Good question! Is it because I prefer warmth, have beady eyes that can move independently of each other and can zap a snack from 10 feet away? No, but that last part would come in handy, and my kids seem to think I have eyes in the back of my head.
When I chose the name of my business more than 10 years ago, I loved the concept of being adaptable.
- Adapting to the needs, goals and personalities of each client
- Adapting to ever-changing web technology
- Adapting to my role as a web designer during the day and a mom/wife at night and on weekends
I loved it. I’m SO adaptable (Overkill on that word? Sorry. You won’t hear it again in this post.).
So there you have it…except I didn’t consider the difficulties people might have spelling “chameleon”. Or pronouncing it (“Is this Sha-mee-lee-ohn Web Design?”).
Let’s consider this my first small biz tip: while a clever business name is great and memorable, make sure people can spell it, or they’re going to have some difficulties with your email address and url.
Anyway, I like the name and my brand, so Chameleon it will remain. In the meantime, I’m also using and promoting www.adapting4u.com and info@adapting4u.com to give the masses a spelling break. You’re welcome.
As for the fact I just used the “a” word two more times when I said I wouldn’t, I trust you’ll forgive me.
